Make a charitable bequest to The Landing School

The Landing School is a nonprofit institution and, therefore, relies upon gifts and contributions to accomplish its mission of educating students for entry into the marine industry. While the school consistently operates on a balanced basis with program revenue and boat sales offsetting expenses, the needs for additional funding for program expansion, equipment needs and facility additions and upgrades are constantly present. As a result, The Landing School seeks funding through planned giving as well as capital fundraising for specific projects. Over time, planned giving can build an endowment for the school, providing a growing and dependable stream of revenue, year after year.

Planned giving, in essence, is a way for supporters to leave to the Landing School some of their assets after they no longer need them. Planned gifts are not just from the wealthy; rather, planned giving ienables anyone to become a major gift donor. Donors usually give through a bequest in a will or a beneficiary designation on an IRA or a life insurance policy. These gifts are easy for donors to arrange, and they are revocable so the donor does not have to worry about tying up assets that may be needed later in life.

Through your will, you determine to whom, how and when your property will be distributed. You designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the balance of your estate after other bequests have been fulfilled. You determine if your bequest is to be unrestricted which permits The Landing School to make the decision as to the best use of your bequest, or you may wish to restrict your bequest to a scholarship fund or a specific department or program. A charitable bequest can be tailored to almost any set of circumstances. It is important that you consult with your attorney or advisor in considering planned giving options.
